What Pre-K Students Can Do to Improve Their Physical Health

Physical self-improvement starts with physical positive actions! In this SEL lesson, the recurring characters, StarBoy and StarGirl, engage the pre-kindergartners with their fun dialogue about improving themselves physically. They talk about all the physical positive actions they always practice to keep themselves healthy, energetic, and better!

The teacher displays the "StarBoy" and “StarGirl” visual aids, then the “Positive Actions for My Body” poster. After the dialogue, the class participates in a discussion that looks back on all of the physical positive actions. Here, they review each positive action and share what they practice to improve themselves continually.

"The young students proudly share that they are improving themselves by eating healthy, keeping themselves clean, and getting enough sleep. They also continue to brush their teeth, avoid harmful substances, and prevent the spread of illness."

The students celebrate their positive actions by doing the march about getting better, and then they cheer for themselves. They end the class realizing that improving their bodies makes them feel better about themselves.

Improving physical health can be challenging, but with the right mindset and dedication, it can be made easier. In this lesson, pre-kindergartners are taught to improve themselves physically by building a positive habit of continuously doing the physical positive actions they have learned in Unit 2. Creating healthy habits is a process that requires energy, effort, and discipline, which they can easily develop by setting physical health goals and keeping them in mind.
