What Is Courtesy and Patience: Develop SEL Skills for Pre-K

To be treated with courtesy and patience, Droid and Dude need to be courteous and patient themselves! This is what pre-kindergartners learn from the story, "Shining Stars." The “Droid,” “Dude,” and “Mama Amore” visual aids are displayed for this.

In this SEL lesson, pre-kindergartners learn that to get along well with others, they need to learn to be courteous and patient. These concepts are explained to them through an interactive class discussion. The teacher explains and cites examples of how courtesy and patience are expressed.

Afterward, the class participates in a simple activity that tests the students’ understanding of the lesson concepts. The students learn that these social and emotional positive actions of getting along with others make them feel good about themselves. They feel even better when their teacher reads their ICU messages from the ICU box.
